Are you ready for the ultimate swimming adventure? On August 18, 2024, we will swim from Lake Walen to Lake Obersee. We master the approximately 18-kilometer route through the Linth Canal in a group under the guidance of experienced swimming coaches. If you are able to swim in the standing water about 4 kilometers nonstop (crawl), you are ready for this challenge. Sections can also be covered on foot.
Procedure
We swim together from Weesen to Schmerikon. The distance is around 18 kilometres (17 kilometres in the canal and 1 kilometre in the lake). This corresponds to about 7 to 9 kilometers (depending on the current) in the standing water. The Linth Channel is swimmable throughout. A special experience are the rapids at Ziegelbrücke. It can be disembarked there and also otherwise time and again and partly distances can be covered on foot (continuous dam path) or on the SUP*. A total of four joint stops are planned, including a food stop. You should be able to swim about 4 kilometers (crawl) in the standing water. The water temperature is much cooler than in Lake Zurich. Wearing a neoprene is therefore mandatory, it is recommended to carry a swimming buoy (neoprene can be rented with advance booking and fee at Tempo Sport).
